Performance Composites
This car body was made in London, Ontario by James and a student as a sponsorship for the University of Western Ontario Formula SAE contest. This body weighed 13 lbs with paint. The previous years body weighed 35 lbs, so we were able to shave 22 lbs from the weight of the vehicle. We made the pattern and the mold. The part was vacuum bagged and made by Diamond Aircraft in London Ontario.
The secret to the light weight was the body was all curves. There were no flats at all. The body lifted up to gain access to the frame and steering and in line with Magicap Lifting Composites!
Utilizing shape for strength and utility is a foremost consideration in all of IHT designs.
And yes that is James sitting in the little car, underneath a B2 at the London Air show. More pics will follow.
